This is new website of Exoteric 'zine. Due to some circumstances, I have decided to stop the online activity and to concentrate my efforts on the print edition.

Something will continue to be posted on the blog, check it out if you want to read some news about the power-electronics and industrial scene, maybe some short reviews will be available, too.

Nothing is planned at the moment, the fifth issue is already in my mind, but I'm looking for some help from friends and interested people, making fanzines and working for life is not so easy.

Field-recordings maestros OLHON are back with a new stunning album.
"Underwater passage" is based upon underwater recordings taken in 2006
by Zairo (WHERE), then treated by Massimo Magrini (of BAD SECTOR fame).
These recordings were taken using special sensing microphones attached
to an abandoned telephone cable running on the sea bottom at -40 m.;
they were then processed with particular demodulating treatments, resulting
in a complex and rich ambiental monument. Strange clicks, impulses, a
load of movements. Definitely far from the usual concept of dark ambient =
low-rumbling drones only, "Underwater passage" shimmers with cutting
mid/high frequencies bursts. A very challenging listening, trust me.
Cd comes in white-trayed, UV-varnished digipack. Price is set at 14 euros,
postage paid everywhere.

Taint “Sex Sick” CD on The Ajna Offensive

There are very few bands out there that are able to communicate their content through sound like Taint. “Sex Sick” is the sound of disgusting reality – a depressing reality many don’t ever see or want to see. While listening to “Sex Sick,” I envision the hooker in the hospital waiting room waiting for her AIDS test and wondering if she can continue working to feed her three kids or the sight of a woman closing their eyes tightly trying to forget what is happening to them in the back of a john’s car right around the corner from where she grew up. I hear the sound of grunts and squeals from people who get turned on about the uncertainty of their partner’s STD status and the sound of crying coming from the next room where her child waits. Just when you find yourself in an uncomfortable place, you’re forcefully pulled back into your seat by ear-piercing feedback, low-end noise and a voice narrating the scene. This record is ugly and full of vile feedback. There is something perverted and disgusting about the squealing feedback. The overall sound is relentless and completely devoid of fanciness or professional studio treatments in keeping with the grittiness of early Whitehouse and Broken Flag releases. It is a sound only Taint can create with the use of the most ugly, deformed, mean-spirited noise imaginable, which compliments the subject matter, samples and vocals perfectly. The sound varies, but Taint doesn’t bring in a single sound that could be considered neat or cool. Every sound is chosen for its brutal atmosphere. Taint uses a lot of tortured feedback accompanied by well placed, low-end and mid-range noise. The album does not lack in diversity as each track has its own personality. It’s very difficult to listen to “Sex Sick” without your imagination wandering into the streets and bedrooms of people you wish didn’t exist. Unlike other Taint albums, there is something even bleaker about “Sex Sick.” Like a freak show, you’ll find yourself wanting to hear these sounds again and again wishing to be taken back into those places only Taint can colorfully bring to life. To sum it all up, “Sex Sick” is one ugly and mean-spirited record.

The guitar melody is subtle while the buzzing guitar drones grow stronger into a dark throbbing tarry blanket. This track comes to you with force and is taking you at the throat, burning you from inside. Furnace takes no less than twenty five minutes and is a pure power noise assault of hypnotizing quality…” (Gothtronic)
