rare tracks, studio-outtakes, rehearsal tracks, lost songs

remain one of the ost criminally under-estimated bands
ever; having their roots in the seminal funeral doom
project THERGOTHON, the finnish musicians evolved
into an almost unbelievable mixture of Slowdive,
Pink Floyd & Cocteau Twins, however with a strong
personal touch that makes them recognizable at
first sight......

Omei expresses itself through the idea of "One thought for a thousand years." The same memory played over and over until it drives you. The mind to the grindstone with nothing ahead but hours and hours of empty slow time. Two long pieces of grinding, sometimes turbulent minimalist drone and industrial from Chris of SICKNESS side project. The first track takes minimal synth loops (with additional material from James Keeler of Wilt) that slowly loop and march into a grinder of distortion to be spit out - angry and venomous. Aggressive but spent. The second track is field recordings (with additional material from Joe Colley) smashed together and blended into an atmosphere of empty warehouse sounds and abandonment. Negative and burned. Constant movement and shifting, panning and empty reverb. Presented by Ninth Circle Music and Misanthrope Studio. SUTCLIFFE JUGEND (SJ)

SJ new CD out today!

Thanks for signing up to the SJ
(Sutcliffe Jugend/Between Silences) mailing list.

Thanks for your patience.

We will keep you informed on all news arising regards SJ and any other Paul
Taylor and Kevin Tomkins releases or Performances.

At long last we have the new SJ website up and running!
The website title has now changed and you can now visit us at

betweensilences.co.uk
 
The old address will still guide you to the site. We will be constantly
updating, so keep a look out for the latest news and improvements to the site.

On CD

We have been very busy recording over the last few months and have several
releases in the pipeline. The first of which is a new SJ mainly instrumental
CD released 13th March 2006, titled 'Threnody For The Victims Of Ignorance'
available from www.unlabel.net. It is very different from Between Silences and
closer to the sound you might expect from SJ, more info available on the
website.

We have already started work on a follow up CD with emphasis very much back on
vocals. More news to follow.

We also have two tracks available on the unlabel 2xCD budget compilation
'Un40mulated'. There is a different mix of the 'Termites...' track from the
new SJ album and the live track 'Wish' from our second and last performance as
Sutcliffe Jugend.
 
The Paul Taylor and Kevin Tomkins CD 'Between Silences' has now been
re-pressed and is also available from Unlabel.

Kevin Tomkins has recorded a CD (limited edition of 100) as Melt titled
'Inertia' available on the 13th March via unlabel.net as part of their
excellent Series52 project. It's a selection of ambient tracks recorded at the
time of the Between Silences sessions.
 
Live

SJ will be performing live at the No Fun Fest in New York USA on 19th March,
follow the link on our website for more info. Our first European performance
will be at The Forum in Tunbridge Wells England on 19th April 2006. These will
be the first opportunities to hear the new sound of SJ.

SJ Kevin Tomkins and Paul Taylor return with a new CD entitled

Threnody For The Victims Of Ignorance

Available 13th March 2006.

In the early stages of recording the new CD as SJ, the electronics were in a
large part stripped away, to reveal what we thought were the more interesting
results beneath. The sound had mutated into something less rigid and more
organic. We then pursued this for the remaining sessions.

This release sits somewhere between the extreme electronics of the past, the
freeform guitar work sometimes heard in Bodychoke and the more recent
improvised material heard on Between Silences.

The new SJ sound is still evolving.

SJ live will also be a different experience with Sutcliffe Jugend now laid to
rest.

SJ are at present working on a new CD also in the new style but with Kevin
Tomkins returning to vocals. There is also an exciting new collaboration CD in
the pipeline, more news to follow shortly. Both these CDs should see the light
of day in 2006. There is also a possibility of live recordings being available
in some format.

Our basic premise has been to express, surprise, move, shock, amuse and thrill
ourselves. The new music is not pure noise, or pure improvising. We do not
align ourselves with any musical style or movement; we have no agenda beyond
that mentioned in this statement.

This is not a Sutcliffe Jugend release. We are not Sutcliffe Jugend.

Harsh Power Electronics from Texas. After “Miserable Disposition” on HHR, Mania follows up with a solid 30 minutes of feedback, junk metal abuse and the standard low end overload. The First of a “Tape Trilogy” with the other two appearing on Vemod and Abisko sometime in the “near” future.

TRASH006 - Karmanjakan Intonarumori - Sociopatopian Orgasmic c60
Karmanjakan Intonarumori returns with 60 minutes of Power Electronics/Industrial. Side A features a Thirty Minute track of overblown synth, samples and vocal manipulation while Side B contains Three similar tracks that exhibit a more “experimental” style. Comes in an oversized destroyed VHS box with inserts.

TRASH007 - Lasse Marhaug - Hell is Empty c30
30 Minutes of heavy feedback and junk metal abuse over concrete loops. Having not heard any of Lasse Marhaug’s solo work since the 3 way split on FA a few years ago this master came as a surprise. Dense Walls that continue to build throughout each side.

All TR Releases (including a repress of the Maim, Climax Denial and BT.HN.) will First be available at the Hospital Productions Table during the No Fun Fest. Anything not sold at the fest will be announced later.

    On June 12th 2005, PCRV played two shows in one day. The first show, which was during the afternoon, was played at The Electric Heavyland. It was a in-store performance which was a nice affair, harsh and fast cut-up improv noise. The second performance, which was at night, was at the Baltic Room. Here the noise was much louder and intense due to the insane PA we had (they had a nine foot subwoofer). Misanthrope Studio is very proud to bring you these two amazing PCRV performances.
